There are 3 exciting new opportunities to be involved in Fleetwood’s Heritage Action Zone Cultural programme.

In January to March 2022, we are looking for two artists to work alongside Fleetwood Museum and bring Fleetwood’s census data and mapped memories to life for wider sharing in the local community and across the heritage/museum sector.

There is also a two year (part time) freelance project role as Arts Engagement Coordinator, ensuring the delivery of 4 artistic commissions in 2022-2023.

The Fleetwood HAZ Cultural Programme

The Fleetwood Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) Cultural Consortium is a group of local arts and heritage organisations led by Fleetwood Museum, delivering a 3-year cultural programme of events and activities to celebrate and engage local people with their town centre heritage.

The first stage of the programme in 2021 has been a mass research project to create a vibrant new archive and record of the town’s people and built heritage:

• Early census data is being collected to produce a new record of Fleetwood people from the 1840’s to the 1920’s.
• In the ‘Mapping Memories’ strand, resident’s memories of town centre locations have been collected through workshops and an online digital map

Opportunity for artists

We would like two artists to respond to the census and mapping memory material, bringing it to life for wider sharing in the local community and across the heritage/museum sector.

The deadline for applications is 4th January, with interviews on 20th January. The commissions are to be completed by March 2022. A brief for each commission can be downloaded below:

Arts Engagement Coordinator

The next stage of the project will celebrate and explore 4 historical moments in the town through commissioned events and activities in 2022 and 2023. The Arts Engagement Coordinator role will be a key enabler in ensuring the delivery of the 4 artistic commissions. They will lead on developing a community engagement plan to consult with residents, develop the commission briefs, liaise with artists/producers, and oversee content development and delivery. 

This freelance post is a 2 year part time role. The deadline for applications is 4th January, with interviews taking place on 17th January 2022. A brief for the role can be downloaded below:

and supported by Arts Council England. The programme is administered by Fleetwood
Museum and is developed and delivered by the Fleetwood HAZ Cultural Consortium.
